Artist Statement: Nature has been a big part of my life from early childhood guided by my nature loving parents. From the backseat of the car and camping adventures, they showed us the beauty of the natural world. Spiritual Truth. I started making pictures pre-teen in our crude basement darkroom. A red light swung overhead of my developing trays (cereal bowls). As an adult, I lived and traveled on a small sailboat for almost 20 years between Canada and the Caribbean, making photographs above and below the ocean surface. Traveling by sailboat, foot, bike, car, being open to the natural world, different cultures and experiences frame my life. Most of us suffer from nature-deficit disorder. Hopefully my visual depictions will take you there, a little magic carpet ride. In addition to nature, Kirk Chamberlain has a passion for photographing people, an eye for emotion, a connection. I specialize in lifestyles, portraits and corporate. I am a full time photographer based in Jacksonville, Florida where my studio is located. This alienation damages children and shapes adults, families, and communities. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4665933
